Crisscross Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 qt. sliced cukes
    1/2 c. sliced onion
    2 gloves garlic (optional)
    1/3 c. salt
    4 1/2 c. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
    1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    3 c. vinegar (white or apple)
Preparation
    Mix first 4 ingredients and put 2 trays ice cubes over and let set 3 hours.
    Bring to boil; add cukes and heat for 5 minutes. Bottle.
