Ingredients

3/4 c. butter or margarine, softened
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. all-purpose flour
1/4 c. + 2 Tbsp. cocoa
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. finely chopped nuts (optional)
Preparation

Cream butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl. Add egg and vanilla; blend well. Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt; blend into creamed mixture. Stir in nuts, if desired. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 350\u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes. Do not overbake. Cookies will be soft. Cool on cookie sheet until set, about 1 to 2 minutes. Remove to wire rack to cool completely. Makes about 2 1/4 dozen.
