Hilda'S Red Cabbage With Apples - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/4 c. butter or margarine
2 medium cooking apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
1 small onion, diced
1 medium head red cabbage, shredded (about 8 c.)
1 c. water
1/2 c. red wine vinegar
1/3 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 bay leaf
Preparation

In 4-quart saucepan over medium heat in hot butter cook apples and onion until tender, about 10 minutes.
Add cabbage, water, red wine vinegar, sugar, salt, pepper and bay leaf.
Heat mixture to boiling.
Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer 40 minutes, or until cabbage is tender.
To serve, discard bay leaf.
