Apple Pandowdy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. nutmeg
    1/4 tsp. salt
    3 lb. pared, sliced apples
    1/2 c. New Orleans molasses
    3 Tbsp. butter
    1/4 c. water
Preparation
    Line a casserole with pie crust.
    Mix sugar, spices and salt; sprinkle over apples.
    Fill casserole with apples; add molasses, butter and water.
    Cover with punctured pie crust; tuck edges together.
    Press to sides of casserole.
    Bake in a hot 425\u00b0 oven for 30 minutes.
    Remove from oven.
    With a spoon, break up crust in pieces and fold them into apple filling.
    Return to oven and bake 15 minutes at 350\u00b0 (or until apples are tender).
    Serves 6 to 8.
