Candy Cane Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening (half butter or oleo)
    1 c. sifted confectioners sugar
    1 egg
    1 1/2 tsp. almond extract
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Color 1/2 of the dough with red food coloring.
    Roll dough in 1-inch balls, then in logs.
    Twist 1 red and 1 plain log together in shape of a cane.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 7 to 8 minutes.
    Dust with powdered sugar when they come out of the oven.
