Mom'S Beef Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. beef stew meat
    1 medium onion, diced
    4 large carrots, in chunks
    2 celery ribs, in chunks
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    pepper to taste
    1/2 lb. fresh mushrooms, sliced
    1 c. water
    1 c. dill pickle liquid
    1 c. chili sauce
    3/4 c. thinly sliced dill pickles
Preparation
    Brown meat in butter in a Dutch oven.
    Add vegetables and seasonings.
    Mix liquids and add 1/2 of this to mixture.
    Cover and simmer about 2 hours.
    Add rest of liquid during cooking. Just before serving, add sliced pickles.
    Serve over mashed potatoes or noodles.
    (The pickles make this special.)
