Sam'S Potato Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 large potatoes, cut in fourths
    water (enough to cover potatoes)
    2 large onions
    2 Tbsp. olive or vegetable oil
    2 c. milk
    2 Tbsp. margarine
    salt and pepper
    2 to 3 cloves garlic
Preparation
    Put quartered potatoes in a 6-quart pot; just cover potatoes with water; add garlic and boil until cooked, uncovered.
    In a frying pan, put oil.
    Slice in onions and fry until brown; do not burn.
    When potatoes are cooked, save water.
    Mash potatoes right in water.
    Put stove on medium; add browned onions and salt and pepper to taste.
    Stir occasionally.
    Serves 4.
