Ingredients

1 1/2 Tbsp. butter
3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. grated lemon rind
3 egg yolks
3 Tbsp. flour
1/3 c. lemon juice
1 c. milk
3 egg whites
1/8 tsp. salt
Preparation

Cream butter and sugar; stir in lemon rind and add egg yolks. Beat until well blended.
Add flour alternately with lemon juice and milk.
Add salt to egg whites and beat until stiff.
Fold into mixture.
Pour batter into buttered baking 9 x 9-inch dish or deep pan.
Set dish in pan of hot water.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 40 minutes. When done, the cake is a delicate brown and the lemon sauce is on the bottom.
