Mushroom Business - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 slices bread, cutting each into 6 pieces
    1/4 c. mayonnaise
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 lb. mushrooms, sliced and sauteed in butter
    1/2 c. finely chopped onion
    1/2 c. finely chopped celery
    1/2 c. finely chopped green pepper
    2 eggs, slightly beaten
    1 3/4 c. milk
    1 (10 oz.) can cream of mushroom soup
    1 c. shredded Swiss cheese
Preparation
    Butter an 8-inch square baking pan or 1-quart casserole dish. Place 1/2 of the bread slices in the bottom.
    Combine the mayonnaise with the salt and pepper, sauteed mushrooms and the finely chopped vegetables.
    Spread over bread.
    Cover with another layer of bread squares.
    Combine the eggs and milk; pour over all. Cover and refrigerate overnight or all day.
    One hour before serving, pour soup on top and spread around.
    Add another layer of lightly buttered bread squares.
    Sprinkle the cheese over the top. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 minutes to one hour or until puffed and brown.
