Cherry Pie In Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. shortening
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 c. milk
    1 can pie cherries
    3/4 c. sugar
    cherry juice plus water to equal 1 c.
Preparation
    Grease 1 1/2-inch casserole dish.
    Cream shortening and sugar. Add dry ingredients.
    Mixture will be crumbly.
    Add milk and mix into a stiff dough.
    Spread dough into bottom of casserole.
    Pour cherries over the dough.
    Sprinkle with 3/4 cup sugar and pour juice over top evenly.
    Bake, uncovered, at 375\u00b0 for 45 to 60 minutes.
    Serve warm.
    Yields 6 to 8 servings.
