Sky-High Strawberry Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen strawberries
    1 c. granulated sugar
    2 egg whites, unbeaten
    1 Tbsp. lemon juice
    1 tsp. almond flavoring
    3 tsp. plain gelatin, soaked in 3 Tbsp. cold water
    1 1/2 c. prepared Cool Whip
    1 (10-inch) baked pie shell
    1/2 c. finely chopped pecans
Preparation
    Melt frozen berries in saucepan.
    When almost boiling, add the soaked gelatin.
    Stir until dissolved.
    Put in fridge and when cold, but not set, pour into 2-quart mixer bowl.
    (Be sure beaters and bowl are very cold.)
    Add sugar, whites, lemon juice and flavoring.
    Beat on high for at least 15 minutes or until very high and fluffy.
    Lightly fold in 1/2 cup Cool Whip*.
