Peach Cobbler - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sliced peaches
    1 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. lemon juice
    1 1/2 c. flour
    3 tsp. baking powder
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/3 c. shortening
    1/2 c. milk
    1 beaten egg
    2 Tbsp. sugar
Preparation
    Arrange sliced peaches in a 8 x 8-inch baking dish.
    Sprinkle with 1 cup sugar and lemon juice.
    Heat in 400\u00b0 oven while preparing shortcake.
    Mix flour, baking powder, 1 tablespoon sugar and salt.
    Cut in shortening , add 1/2 cup milk and beaten egg. Don't overmix, stir and spread over peaches.
    Sprinkle with 2 tablespoons sugar.
    Bake at 400\u00b0 for 35 to 40 minutes.
    Serve warm.
