Old Fashioned Baked Beans - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. dried beans (navy or baby lima)
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
    1 tsp. paprika
    salt
    1/2 c. ketchup
    1/2 c. dark corn syrup
    1/2 tsp. leaf basil
    1 lb. smoked ham, bacon or salt pork
Preparation
    Soak beans overnight in 9 cups water.
    Cook beans in water until softened.
    Drain and stir in remaining ingredients.
    Pour into crock-pot.
    Cover and cook on low setting for 6 to 12 hours (on high for 3 to 4 hours).
    Yields 8 servings.
    Makes about 2 1/2 quarts.
