Ingredients

1 c. soft butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
3 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. grated lemon peel
1 to 2 Tbsp. crushed herb seeds (choose 1 of these: coriander, 2 Tbsp. caraway, 1 Tbsp. anise, 1 Tbsp. fennel, 1 Tbsp. anise hyssop flowers, leaves)
Preparation

Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.
Cream butter and sugar.
Add eggs and mix well.
Work in flour.
Add lemon peel, vanilla and seeds; blend well.
Chill for 4 hours or more.
Roll thin and cut into shapes with cookie cutter.
Bake on greased cookie sheet about 10 minutes at 350\u00b0.
