Texas Pecan Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 tsp. soda
    5 c. cake flour
    3 c. sugar
    1 qt. chopped pecans
    1 lb. butter
    7 eggs, separated
    2 Tbsp. lemon extract
    4 Tbsp. whiskey
    1 lb. candied cherries
Preparation
    Cream the butter and sugar.
    Add beaten egg yolks.
    Gradually add flour, soda and fruit which has been dredged in part of flour. Add other ingredients.
    Lightly fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
    Bake in tube pan, lightly greased and lined with wax paper.
    Use foil over and under pan.
    Bake for 4 hours at 250\u00b0.
