Devil'S Food Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. cake flour
1 1/2 c. sugar
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 (2 oz.) sq. unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. hot water
Preparation

Sift the flour.
Measure and resift 3 times with sugar and salt.
The last time sift directly into a large mixing bowl.
Add shortening (at room temperature), eggs and 1/2 cup milk.
Stir with a spoon to blend.
Beat with an electric mixer, using low speed or by hand with a wooden spoon for 20 minutes by the clock.
Scrape sides of the bowl twice during beating.
Add the combined vanilla, melted and cooled chocolate, soda, water and the remaining milk. Beat 2 minutes more.
