Cherry Cobbler - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/4 c. shortening
    1 egg
    1 c. flour
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. milk
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cream sugar and shortening.
    Add beaten egg; sift flour, baking powder and salt.
    Add to the first mixture with the milk. Pour dough in a greased baking dish.
    Cover with 1 1/2 cups drained cherries and 1 cup sugar.
    Just before putting in oven, cover with 1 cup boiling water.
    Bake for 45 minutes in moderate oven (350\u00b0).
