Spanish Rice - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. uncooked rice
    1 Tbsp. lard
    1/4 c. chopped onions
    1/2 c. chopped green peppers
    1 1/2 c. chopped celery
    2 cans tomatoes
    1 tsp. sugar
    2 c. diced canned chopped meat (Spam or ham)
Preparation
    Cook rice in lard until lightly browned.
    Add onions, green peppers, celery, tomatoes and sugar.
    Heat to a boil.
    Cover; reduce heat to simmer for 25 minutes, or until rice is tender. Stir in meat; cook slowly for 10 minutes.
