Texas Pecan Pralines - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. packed light brown sugar
    1 tsp. baking soda
    2 c. pecans
    1 c. buttermilk
    1/4 tsp. salt
    3 Tbsp. oleo
Preparation
    Mix 5 ingredients in large heavy saucepan on low heat.
    Cool until sugar dissolves.
    Increase heat to high and boil to 210\u00b0 on candy thermometer, about 5 minutes.
    Add pecans and oleo.
    Boil, stirring, to 230\u00b0 thread stage, about 5 minutes.
    Cool 1 minute. Beat with wooden spoon until thick and creamy, about 5 minutes. Drop by teaspoon on greased cookie sheet.
    Cool.
    Store in airtight container for a month.
