Old Fashioned Hot Fudge Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. butter
    4 sq. unsweetened chocolate
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 2/3 c. evaporated milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3 c. sugar
Preparation
    Melt butter and chocolate in top of double boiler over hot water.
    Stir in sugar gradually (about 1/4 cup at a time). Mixture will be dry and thick.
    Add salt, then slowly stir in evaporated milk.
    Continue cooking for 7 to 8 minutes.
    Remove from heat and add vanilla.
    Serve hot over ice cream.
