3 lb. 6 oz. flour
2 lb. 7 oz. shortening
1 3/4 to 2 c. cold water
1 3/4 oz. salt (2 1/2 Tbsp.)
Preparation

Mix flour and shortening on low speed for 1 minute, using pastry knife or flat beater.
Scrape sides of bowl and continue mixing until shortening is evenly distributed, 1 to 2 minutes. Dissolve salt in smaller amount of water (use reserved amount if water is needed).
Add to flour mixture.
Mix on low speed only until dough is formed, about 40 seconds.
