Ingredients

1 c. butter
1 1/8 c. brown sugar, packed
1 1/2 Tbsp. milk
2 1/4 c. sifted self-rising flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda (sifted with flour)
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 to 2 eggs
6 slices candied pineapple
1/2 lb. candied cherries (red and green)
1 lb. dates
8 oz. pineapple preserves
1 1/2 lb. pecans, chopped
Preparation

Mix first six ingredients, in order, beating in one at a time. Dice pineapple, cherries and dates; flour well.
(Can be done the night before.)
Mix fruit with batter, then add preserves and pecans.
Blend all ingredients together.
Drop by teaspoonfuls on greased cookie sheets and bake at 325\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes. Yields 160 cookies.
