Ingredients

2 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
3 whole eggs
3 c. self-rising flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. milk
Preparation

Beat the sugar, shortening, eggs and vanilla at high speed for about 3 minutes. Add flour and milk alternately at low speed. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 35 minutes or until done.
This is good baked in a large iron skillet. The recipe can be cut in half. When you get ready to serve, use the sauce when you cut into wedges.
