Turtle Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 German chocolate or chocolate fudge cake mix
    1 (14 oz.) bag caramels
    1/2 c. evaporated milk
    3/4 c. butter
    2 c. nuts
    1 (16 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
Preparation
    Prepare cake mix using package directions.
    Pour 1/2 the batter into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 15 minutes.
    Melt caramels with milk and butter in saucepan over a low heat, stirring constantly.
    Pour over cake.
    Sprinkle with 1 cup of nuts and chocolate chips.
    Pour remaining batter over filling.
    Sprinkle with remaining cup of nuts.
    Bake 20 minutes more.
    Cool thoroughly, preferably overnight, before slicing.
