Molasses Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. shortening (if using margarine, cut salt)
    1 c. brown sugar, packed
    1 egg
    4 Tbsp. light molasses
    2 1/4 c. sifted flour
    1 tsp. salt (1/2 tsp. if margarine is used)
    1 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. ginger
Preparation
    Cream shortening; add sugar, egg and molasses then dry ingredients and spices.
    Spoon batter in size of walnuts and dip tops in sugar.
    Press on buttered cookie sheet until rather thin. Bake at 375\u00b0 for 9 to 12 minutes.
    Can freeze.
    Yields 5 dozen.
