Sweet Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. sliced thin cucumbers
    1 gal. water
    3 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. ginger
    1 tsp. celery seed
    1 tsp. cloves
    1 c. salt (pickling)
    1 Tbsp. alum
    1 qt. vinegar
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1 tsp. allspice
    1 stick cinnamon
Preparation
    Soak cucumbers in pickling salt and water for 5 to 7 days. Drain and wash cucumbers.
    Cover with water and add alum.
    Boil 10 minutes. Drain and wash.
    Cover with water and add ginger.
    Boil 10 minutes. Drain and wash. Add sugar, vinegar and salt.
    Place celery seed, allspice, cloves and cinnamon in a small bag and add to cucumbers. Boil for 30 minutes. Makes 3 1/2 pints of pickles. Very good!
