Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe
Ingredients

12 cucumbers (a mix of summer squash may be used)
4 onions
1/4 c. salt (for soaking)
2 c. vinegar
1 c. sugar
1 Tbsp. mustard seed
1 Tbsp. celery seed
1 Tbsp. ginger (optional)
1 tsp. turmeric
Preparation

Soak cucumbers and onions 1 hour in salt and ice (1/4 bag). Rinse quickly and drain.
Pick out any chunks of ice left.
Heat vinegar, sugar, mustard seed, celery seed and turmeric and ginger to boil.
Add onions and cucumbers quickly.
Return to boiling point; boil 3 minutes exactly.
Pack into 6 sterilized hot pint jars; seal with covers and cover with towel.
(They will vacuum pack themselves.)
