Ingredients

1 stick butter
2 Tbsp. Crisco oil
1 1/2 lb. white onions
2 red onions
1 Tbsp. tomato paste
4 cans Campbell's consomme
1 c. red wine
Preparation

Peel onions, slice and braise in butter and oil 10 to 15 minutes.
Add paste and consomme.
Bring to a boil.
Simmer 20 minutes.
Add red wine.
Fill soup bowls.
Place slice of party rye on top of soup.
Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
Cover with Swiss cheese.
Bake 20 minutes at 350\u00b0.
Makes 8 servings.
