Thrifty Pound Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening or butter (soft)
2 c. sugar
4 eggs, unbeaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. lemon extract or rind
1 c. buttermilk
Preparation

Sift
together the flour, soda, baking powder and salt. Put into a large mixing bowl the shortening or butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla and lemon extract or rind.
Beat at #8 speed for 2
1/2 minutes.
Turn to #3 speed (slow) and add flour mixture alternately
with
buttermilk;
beat only long enough to blend well,
about
2
1/2
minutes.
Pour
into
tube
or
loaf pan (greased and floured).
Bake at 350\u00b0 for approximately 1 hour.
