Basic Holiday Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter
    2 c. sugar
    4 eggs, beaten
    4 c. sifted flour
    1/8 tsp. ground cinnamon
    1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg
Preparation
    Cream butter; gradually add sugar and beat until light and fluffy.
    Beat in eggs.
    Sift together dry ingredients.
    Stir into creamed mixture (dough should be stiff).
    Refrigerate overnight in covered bowl.
    Roll dough very thin, using flour on board and rolling pan.
    Cut out in shapes.
    Place 1 to 1 1/2-inches apart on greased baking sheet.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes or until crisp and straw colored.
    Remove cookies and cool on racks. Yields 16 dozen.
