Mrs. Pusey'S Date Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. dates, chopped (divided)
    1 tsp. soda
    1 c. boiling water
    1 c. sugar
    1 egg
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1 1/2 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    2/3 c. boiling water
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Mix together 1/2 pound chopped dates, soda and 1 cup boiling water.
    Add sugar, egg, butter, flour and baking powder.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 minutes in a 9 x 13-inch pan.
    Mix together 2/3 cup boiling water, sugar, 1/2 pound dates and chopped nuts.
    Boil until thick.
    Put on top of pudding after baked.
    Cut into squares and serve with Cool Whip.
