Torta Paulista(Brazil) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter
    1 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    2 tsp. vanilla
    2 c. whipping cream
    1 can sweetened condensed milk
    1 box vanilla wafers
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar.
    Add eggs and vanilla; beat well.
    Add whipping cream and mix together well.
    Pour mixture between layers of vanilla wafer cookies (cookies, 1/2 of mixture, cookies and 1/2 of mixture).
    Freeze well, in an 11 x 7-inch pan.
    Meanwhile, remove label from sweetened condensed milk and, without opening, boil the can in a pan of water for 45 minutes.
    Remove can, open and pour caramel on top of frozen pie.
    Return to freezer and freeze for 1 to 2 hours.
    Remove from freezer and let stand 5 minutes before cutting.
