Grandma Irene'S Lime Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    7 lb. cucumbers
    2 c. hydrated lime
    3 gal. water
    2 qt. vinegar
    4 1/2 lb. sugar
    1 tsp. celery seed
    1 tsp. whole cloves
    1 tsp. pickling spices
    1 Tbsp. salt
Preparation
    Mix first 3 ingredients together (cucumbers, lime and water). Soak 24 hours.
    Stir occasionally.
    Rinse well.
    Cover with cold water.
    Soak 3 hours.
    Drain.
    Mix remaining ingredients and cover cucumbers with mixture.
    Soak overnight.
    Add green food coloring. Boil 35 minutes in jars.
    Seal while hot.
