French Onion Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/4 lb. onion, chopped
    3 Tbsp. butter
    1 Tbsp. olive oil
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. sugar
    3 Tbsp. flour
    2 qt. beef broth or 6 cans beef broth
    1/2 c. vermouth
    salt and pepper
Preparation
    Cook first 3 ingredients for 15 minutes in a covered pan.
    Add salt and sugar.
    Cook 30 to 40 minutes (or until golden brown) over low heat.
    Blend in flour and cook for 3 minutes.
    Blend in boiling beef broth.
    Add vermouth and salt and pepper to taste. Simmer 30 to 40 minutes.
    Serves 8 to 10.
