Chocolate-Nut Devil'S Food Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 c. sugar
    4 eggs, separated
    2 oz. unsweetened chocolate, melted
    2 1/2 c. cake flour
    3 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. milk
    1 c. chopped nuts
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cream shortening.
    Add sugar; cream until smooth.
    Add beaten egg yolks; beat 30 seconds.
    Add melted chocolate; beat.
    Sift together dry ingredients.
    Add to sugar mixture alternately with milk, nuts and vanilla.
    Beat egg whites until stiff.
    Fold in.
