Corn Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sifted flour
    3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    3 Tbsp. sugar
    1 egg, slightly beaten
    1/4 c. melted shortening
    1 tsp. salt
    sprinkle of black pepper
    2 c. cornmeal
    1 c. milk
Preparation
    Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.
    Add cornmeal and mix thoroughly.
    Combine egg, milk and shortening. Pour into flour mixture.
    Stir just enough to moisten dry ingredients.
    Do not beat.
    Turn onto greased 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan. Bake in a 400\u00b0 to 425\u00b0 oven for approximately 25 minutes.
