Apple Cinnamon Dumplings - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
2/3 c. shortening
5 Tbsp. water (cold)
6 medium tart cooking apples
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. butter or oleo
Preparation

Sift flour and salt into a bowl.
Add shortening and cut it in with 2 knives or a pastry blender until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Sprinkle in the water.
Mix lightly.
Turn out onto a pastry board and shape in a ball.
Roll dough 1/8-inch thick into an 18 x 12-inch rectangle.
Cut into 6-inch squares.
Peel apples and core.
Place in center of pastry square.
Mix sugar, cinnamon and salt.
Pour into center of each apple.
Pat with oleo.
Bring points over apples and press edges together.
Brush surface with milk.
Bake at 400\u00b0 for 45 minutes or until apple is tender.
