American Pie(8 Servings) - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. sugar
1/3 c. cornstarch
1/4 tsp. salt
2 3/4 c. milk
4 large egg yolks
1/4 c. fresh lemon juice
1 Tbsp. butter or margarine
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. grated lemon peel
pinch of nutmeg
1/2 c. sour cream
1 (9-inch) baked pastry crust
Preparation

Combine sugar, cornstarch and salt in large saucepan. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth.
Bring to boil, stirring gently, over medium-high heat.
Boil for 1 minute; remove from heat.
Beat egg yolks lightly in small bowl.
Gradually whisk in 1 cup hot mixture.
Return to saucepan, whisking constantly.
Return to boil and boil 1 minute more.
Remove from heat; whisk in lemon juice, butter, vanilla, lemon peel and nutmeg until completely smooth.
Cover surface; cool 15 minutes on wire rack.
Whisk in sour cream; pour into baked 9-inch pastry crust.
Cover filling; refrigerate at least 3 hours.
Just before serving, spread top with whipped cream.
