Cutout Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. butter
    1/4 c. shortening
    1 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3 c. flour
    2 tsp. cream of tartar
    1 tsp. baking soda in 2 Tbsp. warm water
Preparation
    Cream together the butter, shortening and sugar.
    Add eggs and vanilla.
    Mix well. Sift together the flour and cream of tartar. Stir flour mixture and baking soda into creamed butter mixture. Chill before rolling. Roll thinly on pastry cloth. Cut with cutters and bake at 375\u00b0 for 6 minutes.
    Sprinkle with colored sugar before baking or decorate with icing after cool.
