Caramel Corn - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. brown sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. light corn syrup
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 lb. margarine
    1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
    6 qt. popped popcorn (12 c.)
    dry roasted peanuts (optional)
Preparation
    In 2 1/2-quart saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, butter, cream of tartar and salt.
    Heat to boiling, stirring constantly, to hard boil stage (about 5 minutes).
    Remove from heat.
    Stir in baking soda quickly, but thoroughly.
