Burnt Sugar Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 Tbsp. white sugar
    1/2 c. boiling water
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. butter
    2 eggs
    3 level c. flour
    1 c. cold water
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Put 3 tablespoons of white sugar in a heavy frying pan (iron skillet works great) and burn to a real dark brown, stirring all the time.
    Remove from fire and immediately add the boiling water. Let this cool before using in cake.
