Grandpa'S Campfire Beans - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. dried red beans
    2 small garlic pods
    1 small onion
    1 1/2 Tbsp. chili powder
    1 tsp. black pepper
    1 tsp. garlic salt
    3/4 tsp. red pepper
    1/4 lb. salt pork, smoked pork or ham hock
    1/3 c. sugar
    1/2 c. catsup
Preparation
    Sort and wash the beans, broken, halves, etc., included. Combine the garlic, onion, chili powder, black pepper, garlic salt, red pepper and salt pork.
    Fill heavy-duty pot to full level with hot water.
    Bring to a boil and continue to boil at medium heat until beans become partly soft.
    Add sugar and catsup.
    Add salt to taste and cook for 15 to 20 minutes.
