Italian Cream Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 stick margarine
    2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. shortening
    5 eggs, separated
    1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
    1 c. buttermilk
    2 c. all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 c. chopped nuts
    1 1/3 c. coconut
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Grease and flour two 9-inch pans.
    Cream margarine and shortening with sugar.
    Add egg yolks, one at a time. Add vanilla, then sift together flour and soda, adding alternately with buttermilk.
    Stir in nuts and coconut.
    Beat egg whites until stiff; gently fold into batter.
    Bake 30 to 35 minutes.
    Frost with Cream Cheese Frosting.
