Laura Lee'S Creamy Caramels - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    dash of salt
    2 c. light corn syrup
    1/2 c. butter
    2 c. half and half or light cream
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Combine sugar, salt and corn syrup in large heavy saucepan; heat to boiling point.
    Cook to 245\u00b0 or firm-ball stage, stirring occasionally.
    Add butter and cream slowly so that mixture does not stop boiling at any time.
    Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture returns to 245\u00b0.
    Remove from heat.
    Add vanilla.
    Mix well.
