Shrimp Laced With Mild Spices(Masala Jheengari; Serves 6) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
    1/2 tsp. turmeric, ground
    1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
    1 1/2 c. chopped onion
    4 medium garlic cloves, minced
    1 1/2 tsp. white poppy seed
    1 tsp. cumin seed, ground
    2 tsp. coriander, ground
    1 1/2 tsp. paprika
    1/4 c. plain low-fat yogurt
    1/2 tsp. red pepper
    1/4 c. heavy cream
Preparation
    Bring 1 quart of water to boil.
    Add shrimp and turmeric and cook for 4 minutes or just until shrimp turn pink.
    Drain shrimp, reserving cooking water.
