Aunt Oletha'S Squash Relish - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    10 medium squash
    3 bell peppers (1 red and 2 green)
    1 Tbsp. salt
    4 c. sugar
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    2 tsp. black pepper
    4 big onions
    1 hot pepper
    2 1/2 c. white vinegar
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    2 tsp. celery seed
    1 tsp. turmeric
Preparation
    Grind the first 4 ingredients and add salt; let stand for 30 minutes, then drain off juice.
    In a large pan, mix squash mixture with remaining seven ingredients.
    Simmer for 30 minutes, but try not to boil.
    Put into jars and seal.
