Gingerbread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
3/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
3/4 to 1 tsp. ginger
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. cloves
1/2 c. shortening
2/3 c. sugar
2 medium eggs
2/3 c. molasses
3/4 c. boiling water
Preparation

Sift together flour, salt, baking powder, soda and spices. Cream together shortening and sugar.
Beat in eggs, one at a time. Gradually add molasses, beating constantly.
Blend in flour, using low speed on mixer.
Add water; mix until smooth.
Pour into well-greased and floured 9-inch square pan.
Bake in 350\u00b0 oven 35 to 45 minutes.
Serve warm.
Makes 9 servings.
May be topped with whipped cream.
