7-Layer Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head lettuce
    1/2 c. diced green pepper
    1/4 c. chopped onion
    10 oz. box frozen peas
    1 small can water chestnuts, sliced
    2 tsp. sugar
    salad dressing
    grated Romano cheese or shredded Mozzarella
    bacon, fried and crushed
    4 to 6 hard-boiled eggs
    1 tomato
Preparation
    Put lettuce on bottom, then pepper, onion, peas, water chestnuts, sugar, dressing (enough to cover) and cheese.
    Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight.
    Garnish with bacon, hard-boiled eggs and tomato.
