Apricot Buttons - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. cooked dried apricots, sieved
    1/3 c. sugar
    1/2 c. butter
    1/3 c. sugar
    1 egg yolk
    1/4 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. sifted flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 egg white, beaten
    3/4 c. chopped coconut or nuts
Preparation
    Combine apricots and 1/3 cup sugar; cook until thickened. Cool.
    Cream butter and remaining 1/3 cup sugar until light and fluffy.
    Beat in egg yolk and vanilla.
    Mix in sifted dry ingredients.
    Chill dough slightly.
