Homemade Soft Pretzels - cooking recipe

1 pkg. active dry yeast
1 1/3 c. warm water (105~ to 115~)
1 Tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
3 1/2 to 4 c. unsifted all-purpose flour
1 egg
1 Tbsp. water
2 Tbsp. coarse salt
Preparation

Preheat oven to 425\u00b0.
Grease 2 large baking sheets.
In a large bowl, sprinkle yeast over warm water.
Stir with rubber spatula until well blended and yeast is dissolved.
Water temperature should be between 105\u00b0 and 115\u00b0.
If water is too hot, will kill yeast.
With a wooden spoon, gradually stir in sugar, salt and enough flour (about 3 1/2 cups) until a soft and slightly sticky dough forms.
